The Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), today announce that the team has agreed to a two-year deal with defenseman Mike Byrne. The current FireWolves roster can be found here.
Now entering his sixth season in the NLL, all within the organization, Byrne is coming off his best year in the league. The defender finished the 2022-23 campaign with 79 loose ball recoveries, 15 caused turnovers, 51 faceoff wins, three blocked shots, and three points. His 15 caused turnovers were the third most on the club and he finished fifth on the team in loose balls, setting career highs in both categories. Since the organization transitioned to Albany, Byrne has appeared in 29 games and has compiled 147 loose balls and caused 29 turnovers.
“I am very excited to be back with the FireWolves!” said Byrne. “We have a very close group, and I am looking forward to continuing to build towards a championship.”
