ALBANY FIREWOLVES TO HOST OPEN CALL FOR DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS

Open Auditions Scheduled for Saturday, June 12

ALBANY, NEW YORK – The Albany FireWolves, the Capital Region’s Indoor Lacrosse team playing out of the Times Union Center beginning in December, today announce that the team will be hosting an open call tryout on Saturday, June 12 for those interested in becoming a member of the FireWolves Dance Team.  Auditions will be held at the Albany Capital Center at 55 Eagle Street, Albany NY 12207. Registration for the audition is at 8:30 a.m. and the audition begins promptly at 9:30 a.m.  The auditions are open to high school graduates of at least 18 years of age with any dance experience.

The Dance Team will be a pivotal part of the organization throughout the team’s inaugural season.  They will not only perform routines to entertain FireWolves fans at home games at the Times Union Center, but they will represent the organization through appearances at team, community, foundation, and partner events.

“As the organization prepares for our season on the field, our dance team plays such a pivotal role for us and allows us to be part of our community well before December,” said George Manias, President of the Albay FireWolves.  “Off the field, the FireWolves dance team will be our brand ambassadors, making appearances at local community events, team functions, and at our foundation events.  On the field, they will perform for our fans on gamedays and be actively involved with all our on-field promotions. Not only will our dancers receive massive exposure on television at our nine regular season home games and through community events, but this is also an opportunity for local dancers to showcase their skills, add to their resumes, and keep their dreams of performing alive.”

The FireWolves Dance Team will be led by Head Choreographer, Megan Grabowski.  A native of Blue Ash, Ohio, Grabowski has been dancing since the age of six.  She began dancing competitively at a young age when she joined The Studio Company while training ballet at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Cincinnati Ballet.  Grabowski attended Kent State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and performed on the KSU Dance Team.  While in college, Grabowski received the Eugenia V. Erdmann award in consecutive years for her demonstration of leadership and creative contribution to dance, strong potential for achieving career goals, and service to the University, School of Theatre and Dance, and the community.  In 2019, Grabowski was the Head Choreographer of the Arena Football League champion, Albany Empire Dance Team.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to be there from the beginning of this new dance team affiliated with the FireWolves that will bring much needed entertainment and joy to fans from all over the Capital Region,” said Grabowski.  “We are looking for a diverse array of talent and skills to build our team.  Our dancers not only will take the field each game but will be ambassadors out in our community.  We are looking for humble, coachable, and motivated individuals ready to help Pack the House!”

The FireWolves are seeking the top dance talent in the Capital Region!  Participants will be taught a routine and do not need to prepare their own.  Applicants will be judged on dance ability, appearance, personality, and attitude.  All are encouraged to audition. Once open auditions are concluded, the judge’s panel will narrow down their choices for the team.  These remaining selections will undergo a two-day boot camp, and semi-finalist interviews, leading up to a final event when the 2021 dance team and team name will be revealed.

Interested in signing up for the audition? A pre-registration fee of $25 can be applied at https://albanyfirewolves.com/auditions/ before Friday, June 11 at Noon.  Registration after that day and time will require an application fee of $30 (cash or cashier’s check only).  Dancers are required to bring a mask and wear two-piece dance wear, including midriff top, lycra shorts and appropriate footwear.  Covid-19 restrictions may apply.  Please arrive to the Albany Capital Center by 8:30 a.m. to register. The audition will begin promptly at time 9:30 a.m.

Free parking will be available in the Market Street garage next to the Times Union Center.
