IAN ANDERSON NAMED HONORARY CAPTAIN FOR FIREWOLVES HOME OPENING GAME

FireWolves Fans to Be Entered into Raffle for Meet and Greet Opportunity

ALBANY, NY – The Albany FireWolves, of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), today announce that Ian Anderson, starting pitcher for the World Champion Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, will be in attendance and made the honorary captain for the FireWolves’ home opening game on Saturday, December 18 at 7 p.m. at the Times Union Center.

From Rexford in Clifton Park, New York, Anderson returns to the Capital Region just months removed from helping the Braves win their fourth World Series title in franchise history.  Anderson has already had great individual success in his short career so far, compiling a record of 12 wins and seven losses and a career ERA of 3.25.

The Shenendehowa High School graduate has shined in the playoffs, posting a 4-0 record with 40 strikeouts in just 35.2 innings and an astounding 1.26 ERA. His postseason ERA is tied for second in a player’s first eight career postseason starts in MLB history.  The righty’s last effort on the mound came in game three of the World Series, resulting in five hitless innings, lifting the Braves to a 2-0 victory.

FireWolves fans attending the home opener on December 18 will have the opportunity to win the chance to attend a meet and greet with Anderson prior to the game.  All patrons who have purchased tickets to the FireWolves home opener prior to 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 16 will be entered into a raffle to partake in an autograph signing and photo opportunity with Anderson.  Details on the raffle will be announced at a later date.

“I am excited to return home to the Capital Region and be part of the FireWolves’ home opener,” said Anderson.  “The sport of lacrosse is growing in the region, and I am excited to help promote my hometown team and help grow this fun and exciting sport.  I encourage the people in the region to come out and support the team!”

“The FireWolves are so thrilled to have Ian join us for our home opener,” said George Manias, President of the FireWolves.  “We are all so proud of Ian and his success and the fact that he is willing to come home to take part in our launch tells you what kind of a person he is.  Ian is a special talent, a class act and a local product who is all about giving back to his community and we are proud to honor him.  We want to share Ian with our fans and developed this great promotion for fans to get the chance to meet Ian up close and personal.  This is very exciting for us, and we appreciate Ian being a part of it all.”
