THREE FIREWOLVES RECORD FOUR POINTS IN LOSS TO ROCK: BY THE NUMBERS

The Albany FireWolves (2-11) were defeated by the Toronto Rock (11-4), 11-9, at the MVP Arena on Saturday evening.  Albany kept the game close and rallied to score five goals in the fourth quarter, but Toronto won the game’s final two faceoffs and were able to capitalize on an empty FireWolves net before running out the clock on their last possession.

Albany’s offense was led by Ethan Walker (3 goals, 1 assist), John Piatelli (3 goals, 1 assist), and Marshall Powless (1 goal, 3 assists) who each had 4 total points in the contest.  On the season, Walker ranks second on the club with 20 goals and Piatelli ranks fifth with 11.  Tanner Thomson added 3 total points on 2 goals and 1 assist.  Thomson sits second on the FireWolves with 26 assists this season, and is now third on the team with 16 goals.  Colton Watkinson, Leo Stouros, Connor Kelly, and Thomas Vaesen each added 1 point in the game.

In net, Doug Jamieson recorded 47 saves and allowed just 10 goals.  On the season, Jamieson has made an even 447 saves, has a 12.30 GAA, and a respectable save percentage of 78%. Despite the loss, Jamieson’s GAA decreased and his save percentage increased thanks to a strong performance.

On defense, Patrick Kaschalk led the team with 6 loose ball recoveries.  Kaschalk leads the Wolves with 71 loose balls on the season.  Watkinson, Walker, Brett Manney, Jackson Reid, Zac Tucci, and Ty Logan each scooped up 5 loose balls in the game.  Reid, Tucci, Kaschalk, Stouros, Piatelli, Walker, and Brent Mitchell all blocked 1 shot each.  Kaschalk leads the FireWolves with 9 blocked shots on the year.

The faceoff battle was relatively even with Tucci winning 10 of 24 in the game.
