ALBANY, NEW YORK – The Albany FireWolves, of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), today announce the introduction of their Girls Winter Box Lacrosse Clinics. The program features two age groups and will serve as an instructional platform developed by the FireWolves organization with a focus on growing the sport of lacrosse and empowering women.
The program will take place every Tuesday beginning on January 4 and run through February 15. The first two practices will be free of charge to allow those interested to test out the program before committing. All sessions will be held at the Knickerbacker Sports Facility, located 191 103rd St, Troy, NY 12182. The FireWolves Girls Winter Box Clinics are a part of the Junior FireWolves Program, presented by Precision Lacrosse and is also supported by Epoch Lacrosse, a U.S. design and technology company committed to exclusively creating the highest-performing lacrosse equipment.
“We are thrilled to add our 2021-22 Girls Winter Box Clinics to our Junior FireWolves programming,” said George Manias, President of the FireWolves. “Our mission is to grow the sport of lacrosse in the Capital Region, and we have seen firsthand that the women’s game is right on par with the men’s game in terms of popularity. We want to offer girls the opportunity to start training as early as possible and this grassroots program will help teach and develop young women the sport of lacrosse straight from the pros!”
The program will consist of two groups, Bantam (grades 6-8) and Midget (grades 9-12). Both levels of the program will feature USBOXLA and FireWolves trained coaches. Aside from the unparalleled coaching, players in the Girls Junior FireWolves clinics will receive one free ticket to a FireWolves home game with discounts on additional tickets, discounts on Epoch Lacrosse gear, access to custom Epoch and Junior FireWolves gear and apparel, discounts on equipment at Precision Lacrosse, and much more.
“We are proud to support the growth of women’s box lacrosse in the Capital Region and specifically with the Albany Junior FireWolves youth program for girls,” said James Miceli, CEO and Founder of Epoch Lacrosse. “Together we are working to make it affordable for these young competitors and are excited for the future of women’s box lacrosse in the U.S.”
