ALBANY FIREWOLVES ANNOUNCE CANCER AWARENESS & PREVENTION NIGHT ON FEBRUARY 19

Presented By the Albany FireWolves Foundation

ALBANY, NY – The Albany FireWolves, of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), today announce that the Albany FireWolves Foundation has partnered with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to host a Breast Cancer Awareness and Cancer Prevention Night for the team’s home game on Saturday, February 19 at 7 p.m. versus the Toronto Rock at the MVP Arena.

The FireWolves will honor survivors throughout the game and raise funds to support the cause by selling pink co-branded t-shirts, which the FireWolves players will showcase during pregame warmups. The concourse of the arena will feature cancer awareness tabling with information and a multitude of fundraising efforts to support the cause.

“The FireWolves are honored to partner with the American Cancer Society and Real Kids Wear Pink at our game on February 19 to support this cause and fight a horrible disease that has affected so many of us,” said George Manias, President of the FireWolves.  “The work that these groups do to create awareness and prevention of cancer is tireless and ongoing, so we are thrilled that we have a platform to support their efforts and help raise funds to support their cause.  In addition, we will honor and recognize a handful of local survivors in a ceremony during the game, hosted by local sports anchor from WNYT TV13, Roger Wyland.  We encourage fans to come on out and support this cause, wear your pink, and join the fight!”

The FireWolves also announce that the team has partnered with Real Kids Wear Pink for the game.  Real Kids Wear Pink, launched by local young philanthropist, Carli O’Hara, engages kids in fundraising and philanthropy around this important cause.  Fans can join in to support the cause by purchasing from two ticket packages.  A $20 ticket package includes a ticket to the game, a pink t-shirt, and a donation to the Breast Cancer Awareness and Cancer Prevention.  Or, for $15, fans can purchase a ticket to the game which will also include a donation to the cause.  Ticket packages can be purchased at www.AlbanyFireWolves.com/Awareness.

“Cancer touches all of us in one way or another,” said Annemarie Dillon, Associate Director of Development for the Capital Region American Cancer Society.  “Together with the Albany FireWolves, we are proud to celebrate survivors and thrivers, fund the future of breast cancer research and programs, and ensure all women and men have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive breast cancer.”

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the game early for a pre-game party in the arena atrium beginning at 4 p.m., presented by Michelob ULTRA.  The party will feature food and drink specials, including Wolf Bite and live music from Funk Evolution.  Those unable to be in attendance can tune into the game on ESPN+, My4 Albany, and 104.5 The Team for full coverage.
