The Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), today announce that the team has agreed to a two-year deal with transition player Will Johansen. The current FireWolves roster can be found here.
Johansen was one of Albany’s two top-ten picks in the 2022 NLL Entry draft and was selected seventh overall. He returned to Robert Morris University for his fifth year in 2023 and finished his collegiate career with 58 points on 32 goals and 26 assists, 83 ground balls, and 29 caused turnovers in 68 total games. He set careers highs in points (26), goals (16), and assists (10) during his final year of eligibility. Johansen joins the FireWolves with indoor experience as well, having been a captain of the Junior A Nanaimo Timbermen before he was selected by the Senior A team.
“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to be playing at the highest level,” said Johansen. “I have always dreamed about playing in the NLL and I can’t wait to get started in Albany! I am really looking forward to meeting the players and fans, and learning from the coaches.”
“Will has the ability to play shut down defense and be a transition threat without taking any shortcuts,” said Glenn Clark, Head Coach of the FireWolves. “His character and abilities are going to fit well with our defensive group.”
