Albany FireWolves Game Day Expectations

Whether it’s the first time a family is attending a professional lacrosse game or a hardcore Albany FireWolves fan is back for a new season, there is so much to experience and enjoy at an Albany FireWolves game. Knowing what to expect at a FireWolves or any other professional sporting event can make game day that much more fun.

Game Day Experience

The FireWolves game day experience starts before fans even enter the stadium. The Albany FireWolves website features options to buy single game or season tickets. Ticket packages for professional lacrosse in Albany, NY, are also available for groups. Some group tickets are eligible for special fan experiences, like the high five tunnel, starting lineup on-field welcome, and front row seats to watch the FireWolves players warm up.

For a VIP experience, fans should consider premium hospitality tickets. Similar to what fans enjoy in a luxury box, the premium hospitality area includes a full food menu, soft drinks, beer, wine, and FireWolves-branded cocktails.

Pre-Game Excitement/Tailgating Parties

Albany FireWolves home games take place at MVP Arena, in the heart of downtown Albany. Fans attending FireWolves games are encouraged to arrive before the start time to allow plenty of time to explore the arena, shop for team merchandise, and find their seats.

Tailgating before games is another way to connect with other fans of the game and the team. There is nothing quite like sharing food and drinks while talking about a shared interest to help you make new lifelong — or at least game-long — friends.

MVP Arena

Located less than a mile from the New York State Capitol building, MVP Arena in downtown Albany is home to the Albany FireWolves. The arena hosts many events throughout the year, including concerts and other sporting events, in addition to professional lacrosse. Onsite parking is available at the arena for $10 per vehicle. Owned by Albany County and operated by ASM Global, MVP Arena holds up to 17,500 guests.

Michelob Ultra Party Zone

Albany FireWolves games offer an opportunity to relax, unwind, and enjoy the company of fellow lacrosse fans. The Michelob Ultra Party Zone gives attendees at FireWolves games the chance to experience the action of the game up close. Tickets to the Party Zone include the cost of food as well as a front-row view against the glass to see all the action. Both seating and standing room options are available. Tickets for this exclusive, tailgate-like experience are available for groups of 10 or more.

Kids’ Zone

Families are welcome and encouraged to attend Albany FireWolves games at MVP Arena. Even little ones who are new to lacrosse are sure to enjoy some fun at the Kids’ Zone. Located on the concourse behind Section 110, the Kids’ Zone features an inflatable for kids to practice their lacrosse skills, face painting, balloon animals and hats, and a create-your-own sign station.

Be sure to arrive early, as the Kids’ Zone will be open as soon as the doors open and will close at the end of halftime when the third quarter begins.

Kids who want to learn more about lacrosse and develop their skills can attend an Albany FireWolves camp or clinic and try out to join the Junior FireWolves lacrosse league.

Fan Engagement

Fans are critical to the fun and welcoming atmosphere at the Albany FireWolves games. Attending more than one game is the best way to get familiar with the team and players and stay engaged with the organization. Consider upgrading to VIP tickets to enjoy special experiences like the high five tunnel or sitting in the Michelob Ultra Party Zone, where you can meet other fans and keep the excitement going from game to game.

Wolf Pack Dance Team

The FireWolves are proud to have the support of the Wolf Pack Dance Team, who performs at all home games. The team of talented dancers features members from all over the country and is led by Head Choreographer, Megan Grabowski.

Local junior dancers can apply to participate in a Wolf Pack Dance Team clinic, which may include:

  • Interactive workshop with the Wolf Pack Dance Team
  • Special Performance with Wolf Pack Dance Team at Halftime
  • Tickets to the FireWolves game
  • Hair and makeup packages
  • Professional headshots

High Five Tunnel

Group ticket purchases of 50 or more people are eligible to participate in the Albany FireWolves high five tunnel. In the tunnel, fans get a chance to high five the players as they leave the locker room and head to the field at the beginning of the game. Getting this close to the action can be a next-level experience for fans and families.

Food and Drinks

It’s almost impossible to leave an Albany FireWolves game hungry. In addition to arena concessions that include sporting event classics like hot dogs, pizza, and popcorn, the MVP Arena building includes four full-service restaurants:

  • Albany Stadium Restaurant & Bar
  • The Beer Hall

Additionally, the popular Albany Stadium Restaurant and Bar is conveniently nestled right in front of MVP Arena at 51 South Pearl Street. The restaurant opens three hours before all MVP Arena events and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes draft beers and ciders in bottles and cans, share-worthy appetizers, salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, and a kids’ menu.

Bar areas are also available throughout the arena concourse, featuring national as well as local brewery offerings. Visitors should note that MVP Arena concessions are cashless, but they do accept credit and debit cards as well as Apple Pay and Android Pay.

Guests with VIP tickets or access to the Michelob Ultra Party Zone enjoy food included with the cost of admission.

Fan Interaction — Meet and Greets/Autograph Sessions

As part of the Albany FireWolves schedule, the team hosts different theme nights during the season, including Country Night, Margaritaville Night, and an Indigenous Celebration. These theme nights encourage fans to dress according to a theme and explore the special activities set up for these events, such as a mechanical bull and a limbo contest. Many theme nights also include meet and greets and autograph sessions with the players themselves.

The Albany FireWolves stars are always eager to give back to the Albany community. Any group interested in scheduling an appearance with an Albany FireWolves player should reach out to the Director of Game Presentation.
