FIREWOLVES GET REVENGE AT HALIFAX: BY THE NUMBERS

The Albany FireWolves (2-2) defeated the Halifax Thunderbirds (3-2), 11-10, at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Friday evening.  Kieran McArdle led the Wolves with eight total points, including a game-winning goal in overtime.  This was the second time the two teams played against each other this season, with each team winning the road game of the matchup.

McArdle led the way on offense with 8 total points on 4 goals and 4 assists.  Despite missing one game this season, McArdle leads the team in points (18), and is tied for the team lead with 7 goals and 11 assists.  McArdle’s first goal of the night was his 200th career point.  Tanner Thomson added 4 points in the contest on 1 goal and 3 assists.  On the year, Thomson is third on the Wolves with 15 points and is tied for the team lead with 11 assists.  Ethan Walker (2 goals, 1 assist), Jackson Nishimura (1 goal, 2 assists), and John Piatelli (1 goal, 2 assists) each had 3 points in the win.  Justin Scott tallied 2 points on the night with 1 goal and 1 assist.  Charlie Kitchen, Patrick Kaschalk, Colton Watkinson, John LaFontaine, Hiana Thompson, and Aaron Forster rounded out the scoring with 1 point each.

Doug Jamieson returned in net and was stout all night.  The netminder allowed just 10 goals while recording 53 saves.  Halifax attempted 63 shots on goal, 13 more than Albany.

On defense, Mike Byrne led the team with 3 caused turnovers.  Byrne also scooped up 3 loose balls on the night.  Nishimura, Watkinson, Kaschalk, Walker, McArdle, and Nick Chaykowsky each tallied 5 loose ball recoveries on the night.  Kaschalk also blocked 2 shots in the victory.  LaFontaine caused 2 turnovers while Nishimura, Watkinson, and McArdle each caused 1.
