FIREWOLVES MOVE TO 2-3 AFTER LOSS TO NEW YORK: BY THE NUMBERS

The Albany FireWolves (2-3) were defeated by the New York Riptide (1-4), 16-10, at the MVP Arena in Albany on Saturday evening.  Connor Kelly led the Wolves in scoring while Hiana Thompson logged his 100th career point.  The two teams will meet again on Saturday, February 11 on Long Island.

Kelly led the way in scoring with 6 total points on 2 goals and 4 assists.  On the season, Kelly is second on the team in total points (22) and goals (9), and ranks third on the Wolves with 13 assists.  Kieran McArdle scored 3 goals and 2 assists on the night.  McArdle now tops the FireWolves with 23 points and 10 goals, while his 13 assists are second-most on the club.  Tanner Thomson also tallied 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists.  Thomson’s 14 assists on the season lead the team.  John Piatelli added 4 points in the loss on 1 goal and 3 assists.  Thompson and Colton Watkinson each contributed 2 points on the night.  Thompson’s second assist in the third quarter marked his 100th point in his career.  Greg Downing, Jackson Nishimura, and Ethan Walker rounded out the FireWolves scoring, each with 1 point.

Both FireWolves goaltenders saw action in the game.  Doug Jamieson allowed 10 goals while recording 24 saves.  Justin Geddie stopped 9 Riptide shots and allowed 6 goals.  New York attempted 11 more shots on goal than Albany.

On defense, Patrick Kaschalk led the team with 9 loose ball recoveries.  The rookie also caused 2 turnovers in the contest.  Downing and Nick Chaykowsky each scooped up 9 loose balls and caused 1 turnover on the night. Chaykowsky now leads the team with 31 loose balls on the season.  Watkinson added 2 caused turnovers to his line, tying him with Chaykowsky for the team lead on the season with 5 each.
