ALBANY, NY – The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) has announced that it will return to the Capital Region this summer for the first stop of their 2022 season. Tom & Mary Casey Stadium at the University at Albany will be the home to the PLL training camp from May 27 – June 3, and host Opening Weekend on June 4 and 5. Five members of the Albany FireWolves National Lacrosse League (NLL) team also play in the PLL and will return to Albany for the start of the outdoor season.
“After a successful inaugural season for our Albany FireWolves NLL box team, we are excited to partner with and welcome the PLL back to the Capital Region,” said George Manias, President of the FireWolves. “It will be fun to see our FireWolves players compete against each other and showcase their talents in the outdoor game. We wish our guys and the PLL the best of luck this season and are confident that Albany will once again be successful stop in the PLL tour.”
Each of the eight teams will bring a 30-man roster to Albany for training camp, eventually cutting down to 25-man rosters for the season. Four scrimmages will be held on May 31 and will be open to all Opening Weekend ticket holders. More information on the scrimmages will be announced soon at www.PremierLacrosseLeague.com.
Among the FireWolves players in the PLL are Joe Resetarits (Chaos), Joe Nardella (Whipsnakes), Andrew Kew (Chaos), Charlie Kitchen (Waterdogs), and Brad Smith (Whipsnakes). Fans can watch the Whipsnakes and Chaos on Saturday night at 9 p.m. and the Waterdogs on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Members of the FireWolves front office will be in the Premier Zone tailgate area, located just outside the field, on Saturday and Sunday before and during all the PLL action. Fans are encouraged to stop by the FireWolves tent to win team prizes and learn about information ahead of the 2022-23 NLL season.
