FIREWOLVES FUELED BY MILESTONE PERFORMANCES IN LOSS: BY THE NUMBERS PRESENTED BY STOREDTECH

Albany, NY –  The Albany FireWolves have dropped two games in a row to the Rochester Knighthawks, but there have still been tremendous performances up and down the roster that kept them close in both contests. At 10-4, the FireWolves are in the hunt for the playoffs as the National Lacrosse League (NLL) continues their March to May. Let’s look at a few key numbers from this past weekend’s matchup.

4th Career Season With 500+ Saves For Doug Jamieson

The backbone of the FireWolves all year has been goalie Doug Jamieson who has been outstanding in net for Albany through 13 games played this season. Jamieson is only 27 years old, but in his seventh NLL season he has racked up impressive statistics over his career that show he still has much to prove. Against Rochester this past weekend, he reached 501 saves on which is the fourth time he has made 500 saves in a season. Jamieson shows his consistency in net with his ability to read shooters, make acrobatic saves when needed, and his calm demeanor allows him to stay focused throughout a game. With four regular season games remaining, it’s likely that Jamieson could reach over 600 or 700 saves if he continues to be a brick wall for the FireWolves.

300 Career Loose Balls By John Wagner

The newest member of the FireWolves, defenseman John Wagner, started his career in Albany by snagging 8 loose balls against Rochester, which helped him reach 300 career loose balls. Acquired in a trade with Las Vegas last week, Wagner made an immediate impact on defense, but really made his mark with his ability to track down the ball and gain extra possessions for the FireWolves. His biggest loose ball came after Albany brought the game within one goal at 11-10 and as Joe Nardella launched the ball to open space Wagner caught it one handed to give the offense a chance at tying the game. The defender from St. Davids, ON is going to be a big part of the FireWolves run at the playoffs.

7 Points Each From Ethan Walker And Alex Simmons

The FireWolves have had balanced scoring all season as different members of the offense have stepped up week after week, but the two usual suspects continue to be Ethan Walker and Alex Simmons. Both Walker and Simmons scored 2 goals and added 5 assists for 7 points against the Knighthawks as they did everything they could to bring the MVP Arena crowd a win. Simmons leads the team with 79 points as he has all but locked up NLL Rookie of the Year with his sharpshooting and playmaking ability that has been a huge part of Albany’s success. Walker is one of the most underrated players in the league as he uses his great lacrosse sense and leadership to make plays and organize the offense. With four more regular season games to go, Walker and Simmons will be the fuel for a big finish.

The FireWolves return to action on the road in Calgary to face the Roughnecks on Friday at 9 pm ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+. TSN+, and locally on MY4.

The FireWolves return to MVP Arena on Saturday, April 6 as they face the Toronto Rock on Retro Night!  For more information regarding tickets, visit www.albanyfirewolves.com or call/text the FireWolves ticket hotline 518-612-4196.
